Animal tHusbandry at Virginia Tech and recently got an A on his livestock judging course; has bigger hopes for making the Tech Judging team next spring and going to Arkansas to meet bigger competition! (1 got this via the grapevine.).
Kelly dropped by the office during the holidays as do a number of our former 4-H members, (never see enough of them) to tell me old “Bess” had come forth again with another set of twins. Actually all five of the original $14.00 ewe lambs are still on hand Bess, Lizzie, Cow-bag, (so named because the size of her udder) , Peggy and Betty.
While all of the ewes have been prolific “Bess” stands at the top. Shown above (June 1956) with one of her several sets of triplets, Bess has produced a total of 23 lambs in nine years! A single birth iust ain’t in her maternal makeup. ‘
