He maintained that the primary goal of the United States was to bring about peace in the world. Now he conceded that if it were necessary to achieve this through force, it would be justifiable. Yet, after we entered the War, the President still insisted on friendly relations with all the world.
His ideas for a permanent peace insisted that the victors should not exploit the Central Powers, but should work with all nations for a plan which would insure a lasting peace.
