New York, which usually sets the price pattern, had improved a cent or so toward the end of last week, reflecting some cold weather, and if low temperatures hold out long enough, we might feel it in our markets, too.

New York price on Grade A Large, up 2d was 38c at the end of last week. Richmond was the same at 34c; Roanoke off 2c at 34-36c; and the Valley off a cent at 33-34c.

HENS With egg prices dragging, now’s a good time to take a critical look at your laying flock. Hen prices are around 20-21c in Georgia right now; as high as 20c in North Carolina. In Virginia they’re not as favorable, 16 to 18c in Richmond and the Valley, but it still may pay you to cull now.
