The Governor* Premium Committee composed of Parke C. Brinkley, Commissioner of Agriculture, W. N. Stoneman, F. C. Nuckols, and W. T. Reed, Jr. recently met and approved the division of the premium offerings as $25,000 of the total premiums are paid from state funds.
The offerings for Brown Swiss breed have been withdrawn for 1957 and the Yorkshire breed has been addd to the swine.
Other changes in the premium list not involving premiums are as follows: Sale of market steers, lambs and baa rows moved up ,from Friday to Wednesday at 8 p.m., judging of junior division and open class steers Monday instead of Wednesday, judging of swine and sheep Commencing Monday instead of Tuesday, Dairy Department of VPI to handle direct entries in the Junior Dairy Show rather than through the State Fair office, slight changes in the rules for the calf scramble contest.
