New Campaign
Aimed At
Bootleg Whiskey
The Alcohol & Tobacco Tax Division of the United States Treasu ry Department has started a drive against moonshinii^j in the southern states. It is a known fact that illegal liquor defrauds the government of millions of tax dollars each year, and that it also breeds other and more serious crimes.
The most essential commodity necessary for both the large ami small manufacturer of moonshine whiskey is sugar. It is therefore, the object of the Alcohol & Tobacco Tax Division to obtain the voluntary cooperation of legiti. mate dealers who will refuse to sell sugar and other commodities such as grain and yeast, which are used in the manufacture of illegal whiskey, to known violators or suspicious persons.
The-Harrisonburg, Virginia office of the Alcohol & Tobacco Tax Division, has been and will continue to call on various dealers in this area to enlist their aid in cutting off these supplies to violators. Wholesalers and merchants are being asked to report all suspicious activities to- the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax Division, P.O. Bov 571 Harrisonburg, Va.
