Strength For Life 5

MAN IN SEARCH OF

, security . : 5

. _ One of the basic drives of life is the drive tor security. Man must have sente thing in which he can ptace his trust that gives him the feeling of being secure. In order to fullfill this desire or drive, m'.n goes in search of security. ; ‘ In their search, some believe that they rind their secui ty in societV or soejal position. 'They feel that if they can obtain a high so-1 cial position, life will be secure. Others feel that if they can live in the socially accepted neighbor'hood, they will have obtained (heir goaL ,But what happens ? One wrong word, one' unguided action, and the social posirion is gone. Changes i ri population trends, cause neighborhoods to become so- •; cially unacceptable. Then security >s gone.

In their'search, others believe that power or material wealth will give them the desired security. The ability to control people or the stockpiling of money seems as if . security has been found. But here again, power and wealth have a - way of vanishing into thin air, As they go, so also security passes away. , We could become very disheartened and say that there is no security. But we would be wrong. Man's true security is found in God. A life which is surrendered to God is a life which has found it’s . security. Thus,! the key to man's search for security is found , ih surrendering to God. In God, and God alone, we are able to find our true security. When we surrender to God our, searching will be over. We will have found that for which we are seeking, security. , Rev. Ledford C- Vaughan, Jr.
