Knowing What You Are Getting

While paying taxes is generally considered a most unpleasant occupation, it might be comforting for a person to trace his actual tax payment and know for what a good purpose his tax money is being spent. ! ^ Now suppose we consider the case of tax money spent on the latest deal doped out by Western farmers. These farmers raise grain which they sell to the taxpayers (i.e. . the U. S. Government) at support prices. But the taxpayers have so much grain they have already purchased from the farmers in years gone by, that they have no place to store any more. So the Western farmers come to the aid of the 1 taxpayers by building great storage bairns and elevatore which they rent to the taxpayers by the year to store their grain they just bought at suppoi^hces. Then in another few years the Western farmers will aid the taxpayers again by buying back this grain at a reduced price to feed to their pigs that they will sell to the taxpayers^ It is obvious that any taxpayer ought to be happy to support a proposition. such as this.

Or take the case of French Guinea. This nation recently-voted against !the French constitution and aromatically

became independent, which *h£e^ejj^ as it was costing them quite a bit of money to keep t.nis nation going. The head man of French Guinea, "ho is no lightweight upstairs, applied at once for aid from Russia. Naturally such a move horrified our State we immediately offered U. S. aid and more of it. Now what American taxpayer wouldn't be delighted to know that he

Whelping support-French Guinea, and thus keeping the foul Russian taxpayers from supporting them. _v
