i John Henry Kilby, highly re. ppected Colored citizen and re* tired farmer of Boston, Rappahan' flock- County, Virginia, diedat his home there Thursday September 25th after an illness of several; months. He was 77 years of, age. Son of the late Simon Kilby and .Mrs Fannie Wallace Kjlby of 'Madison County, Virginia, he is survived by three daughters, Mrs. ; Mildred Timbers of Mt. Jackson, Va , Mrs. Polly ^ennis or Casttetoh and Mrs. Irene Timbers of Woodville; four sons, Charles H. Kilby at home; Willie Kilby of ‘ Richmond, John Kilby of Richmond and Wilson Kilby of Happy Creek, Va. Also surviving is one sister, Mrs. Ophelia Washington of Criglesville, and 17 grandchildren. . '
Funeral services were •held Sunday, September 28th from the Nazareth Baptist Church, whefe , a large assemblage of both colored and white friends gathered to pay their respects to one who will be Ireatly missed by all who *hew 'f him. Reverend R. L. Banks and Reverend John,J*ckson conducted the last rites. Interment was made - , in the church cemetery, by the side of his late wife, Mary Ella Kilby who died in 1945.
