Scald milk, stir in sugar, salt and shortening. Cool to lukewarm. Sprinkle^dt •crumble yeast into water. Stir until yeast dissolves. Add eggs and half the flour. Beat until smooth. Stir in remaining flour or enough to make a dough. Turn dough out on lightly floured board and knead until smooth and elastic. Put dough into a greased bowl and brush top lightly with soft shortening. Cover with a cloth let rise in warm place free from draft until double in size, about an hour. Punch down and turn out oh Lightly floured board. Cut the dough in half. Roll each half in an oblong 14x12 inches. Brush with melted margarine. Spread with a thin layer of jam. Roll up as for a jelly roll. Place on greased baking sheets. Form into heart shape and seal axis. Cut one inch slices almost through with scissors. Cover and let rise until double in bulk. Bake 350 degrees about 30 minutes Ice top while hot with plain icing. Decorate with candied cherries.
- Plain Icing 1/2 cup sifted confectioners sugar 1 /8 teaspoon vanilla extract 2 teaspoons milk. Mix all ingredients together.

Mrs. Alice Finch am who spent last week as the guest of Mr. and' Mrs. Guy Burke returned to her home in Berryville Sunday. Friday Mrs. John Burke was a dinner guest of Mr. and Mrs. Burke. In the afternoon Mrs. Arthur Edmonds and Mrs. Clarence Racer visited the Burkes and Clyde Jenkk» at his home.

Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Critzer left Sunday for Luray where they were joined by Mrs. Cntzer’s father, Robert Keyser, who will accompany them to Sarasota, Fla. to spend sopie time with Mrs. Keyser and Bruce Critzer, who are vacationing there. Steve Critzer is staying with his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Critzer during the absence of .his parents.
