Ba-Sic, a novice chestnut, with only one race under his belt, is a 7-year old son of Mr. Chatties Payne’s Culpeper stallion, Baron Jack. Cool Harbor had been purchased from the Leon T. Greenaways by Mrs. George C. Fox, - while he'was being schooled, the Wednesday prior to the March 7 race. The express purpose of the purchase was to have a Fox entry in the popular Rappahannock Races. Thus this was Marine Major Fox' first competitive ride abroad the new mount and Michael Marsh’s handsome grey mare was a post entry, running her first race with her owner-rider just returned from Jamaica titoe to try her racir‘v abili*"*.
