1 he Institute gets underway Tuesday the 28th with the annual meetings of the Virginia Federation of Home Demonstration Clubs and the Agricultural Conference Board. Since the meetings are held separately, you’ll have to ask our H.D. Agent or some of the local ladies about the former.
As for the Conference Board, I’ve always been impressed with the brains and influence this group possesses and wields in Virginia’s agriculture. Howard Gordon is now president and you can wager he’ll be his usual down-to-earth, brilliant self. Here is where the big wheels design, fuel and start the machine going; yet they have an ear ready to listen to the humblest person with a sound thought.
The auditorium of Burruss Hall _its cool and the oeatt are comfortable-., will be the scene of the big kick-off Tuesday evening.
Dr. Nicholas Nyardi, Director, Institute of International Studies, Bradley University has as his topic “Americans—Shall We Survive?” Survive what ?.sometimes I wonder whether I’ll ever have the price of a jucy steak or enough to buy the little lady a new hat. Nevertheless, I’m counting on seeing the year 2000 roll around and may be making a trip to the moon, too.
