I certainly looked and felt like a drowned duck this morning in Culpeper, but you know it felt so good and I could just see things in the garden jumping right up.
Jimmie Settle has been sick and at home for about ten days now. We surely miss having him around.
Believe it or not Ruby Jenkins is now a fishing lady. Not only fishing but using a casting rod and reel. She caught a pound bass down at the lake, but her nephew, Ronnie put her in the dark with a bass weighing two and one quarter pounds, caught in our pond with his brand new rod and reel given him by his uncle. "
Bobbie Massie has been in the Army one year Tuesday, and can you believe it, Bert Spalding, his mother has written him a letter every day. Glenn Williams has also been in a year. Sure would like to see tljgse two boys.
We have an ad in the paper this week that I believe the Rappahannock Hunt Club will certainly be interested in for the Point-toPoi:it race? next March. Of Couise they will have to buy a Venetian blind!
Bill and Mr. Many really had a time fixing the roof of the News office last week. Mr. Many was stung twice and Billy three times by bees, but worse yet Bill tore the seat out of his britches trying to get away from them.
Tonight we have just heard of the death of A. C. Latham. “Mr. Cliff" as he was known to his many friends was a man widely known and loved in Rappahann-' ock.the place of his birth as well as most of Virginia. He will be greatly missed and has left a place which will be hard for another to fill.
