Our continued world leadership and influence will depend largely upon how well our fanners, how well all our people as vitally interested stockholders, and how well the Congress as our governing body live up to our responsibility as stewards of the land. With wise management, our land can be kept productive to meet the growing needs of our people. Some land in this country has been cropped continuously for nearly 300 years and is still as good or better than before. Whether we own land or not, we depend upon the production of the soil for the necessities of life. That's why I say. that each of us has a vital concern in maintaining the productivity of our greatest natural resource. Poor soils mean poor living. Good soils mean good living. The Agricultural Conservation Program is promoting good living through better soils. The Agricultural Conservation Program assists in carrying out practices to conserve and build the soil. So, inclosing, let me say to you, Mr. Farmer, don’t let your acres shrink. And to you, the Mr. and Mrs. of business and profession, don’t let our farmers let our acres shrink. Let’s not any of us let any of our acres shrink.
