Washington—One of the major legislative items moving through the Congressional mill (luring the adjournment drive of Congress is a bill containing numerous amendments to the Social Security Act.
In line with the usual practice of the House of Representatives in handling complex legislation arising in the Committee on Ways and Means, the bill was sent to the floor under a rule barring amendment. There were indications, though, that the Senate would want to change, and probably broaden, the controversial medical care provisions.
