The above is not to be taken lightly. As promised (the mayor and Mr. Burke did their best) the motor was fixed and ready for use on Saturday. But the seriousness remains. We were without water in the town of Washington from Thursday until Saturday. It can and may happen again!

A few reminders: Fashion Show sponsored by St. Stephens Episcopal Church in Culpeper will be held August 24.

A fashion Show will also be sponsored by John Mosby Academy in Front Royal August 18 at Union Hall. Back-to-school fashions will be furnished by the local stores in Front Royal.

By all means don’t forget Guy and Millie Lillard’s auction Saturday. Lunch will be served by the ladies of the Methodist Church, so you know it will be good.

I said I would meet you at the carnival in Flint Hill, but the rain stopped Arthur and me. but we’ll be seeing you for sure this week end at the Amissville Firemens Carnival.

Ronnie Thornhill’s tree-house was completely destroyed by fire sometime Sunday night. Friendship is a chain of gold, Shaped in God’s all perfect mold; Each links a laugh, a smile, a tear, A grip of hand, a word of cheer.
