At its regular meeting on September
J 28th, the Rappahannock Lions Club made a donation which thrilled each member of the Rappahannock County High School
body, faculty and all school
when they appropriated
for an electric scoreboard
basketball games.
Though the Lions would be too modest!to mention it, we feel compelled to say that in making the donation, the Lions Club completely depleted their treasury, and will, of necessity, enter into several fund raising activities. We hope all interested friends will lend a hand to the [Lions.
Rappahannock County High School] is not always in such dire straits i it has fund-raising projects of its own. The fact that they desperately need help now is because the accumulated school funds had to be ysed to help pay for bleacher seats jfor the gymnasium. The County School budget was estimated so closely that, while there was money'|to complete the actual building program, such accessories as the bleacher seats, at a cost of $3800 could jbe only partially paid for. Being absolutely necessary' for seating at the basketball games, at which ;tfie school raises a large part of its athletic fund, there could be no delay in the purchase of the seats, j
Basketball and baseball uniforms are, badly needed. The dubious distinction of having patches on every baseball uniform is ours. We use “oiirs” because, of truth, it is our school, of which we are all proud.;
Rappahannock County High School shall work for itself and begs the patience and aid of all in* terested citizens and organizations. There is much to he dorielif we all pitch in, as the Lions have done, we will surely accomplish it.
Republican Meeting
The regular meeting if the Rappahannock Republicans will he held Friday, October 7th at 8 pjn. in the lrire House, at Washington, Va. All are cordially invited.
