Lyndon Johnson,, Democratic candidate for Vice President of the United States, will arrive in Culpeper, Virginia, Monday morning, October 11) at 8:23 a.m.

Large crowds are expected to greet Mr. Johnson when he pauses for brief visit with supporters of this area on a whistle-stop tour of the east.

Make Awards

In line with its firmly established “Grass-roots Policy”, a policy that endeavors to assist individuals to express their views in a group and to create an awareness of Community, County, State and National problems, the Virginia Farm Bureau, according to Gen. Daniel C. Noce, President of the Rappahannock Chapter, Virginia Farm Bureau, is asking all nondaily Virginia newspapers to participate in an educational program relating to individual freedoms, and it is his hope that the Rappahannock News will cooperate with the “Authors of Liberty” program.

Updike Places Third

Lyle Updike, Rappahannock’s representative on Virginia’s 4-H Livestock Judging Team, made third highest individual score at the recent Atlantic Rural Exposition. Lyle is the sOn of Mr. and Mrs. John Updike of Washington. -

With teams from "Seven states competing, the Virginia team placed third behind Indiana and West Virginia.

Lyle advises he will leave with the other Virginia team members for Harrisburg, Pa. on November 8th for practice fudging. On November 12th the Virginia team will judge atj the Eastern National at Timonium and then leave from Blacksburg on November 18th for the International at Chicago.
