One day last week a big trailertruck from Champaign, Illinois rolled onto rhe high school grounds loaded with new bleacher seats fdr the auditorium-gymnasium. Under the direction of the driver of the truck, skilled by factory training in handling this tvpe of equipment, Coach Larry Bolvard and some of the boys unloaded and stacked the different steel forms and the w oden seats, and steps according to proper arrangement.
Two days later a representative of the company holding the contract for the sale and installation of the seats appeared at school and immediately went to work, again assisted by students, janitor, and Mr. Bolyard. During study hall periods, physical education periods and at night the work progressed. The job was completed over the weekend arid the seats are up. Like the gymnasium-auditorium itself, the seats present a most pleasing and attractive sight. More than one visitor, familiar with high school building in the state has made the identical remark, “This is one of the most beautiful auditorium-gymnasiums in Virginia.”
Particular credit is due, and here by given to all who had a part in the erection of the bleacher seats. The students who participated and donated their entire pay for the job to the athletic fund are: Lee Thornton, Louis Moore, Lari Lillard, Joe Brown, Roy Jenkins, Jonas Jenkins, Bobby Clater, Richard Jenkins, Robert Armentrout, Thomas Williams, Butch Browning, J. G. Russell, Richard Belch, Herbert Peverili, Bud Settle, Roger Anderson, Richard Burke and Robert Switzer.
