Prices have been holding firm J during the past month, and are expected to do so until a slightly larger number of winter replacement pullets start producing. In February, egg production will increase three to four per cent over last year. Today’s prices are about the same as this time last year despite a slight rise in production since August. The rate of lay is up five per can in the South Central States. The rate of flock replacement during the next three months will increase the supply of medium eggs. A nine per cent increase of pullets over last year will be put into the flock during this period. I However, the winter replacements are not large in relation to total layers.
