Veterans

A new law went into (effect on January 1, 1962 which prohibits the severance of service-connected compensation which has been recognized by the Veterans Administration for ten or more years, unless it is found that the'original

award was based on frau<| or that' the veteran did not hav^ the re-; quired service or character of dis-' charge. \ 1

[For several years the f VA has been engaged in a review of its claims files to rule out errors which may have occurred in die great pressure after WWII to rate the service - connected disabled and complete their hack home adjustment. That review has been accomplished.

From now or service-connection for disability or death which has been in force for tent or more years cannot be severed, unless it is clearly shown that the first grant of service-connection was based on fraud, or that the military records show that the person concerned did not have the requisite service, or that his discharge was not under honorable conditions.
