An exciting trip is being planned by members of the travel committee of County IHbme Demonstration clubs. The trip is scheduled tentatively for June 20-21. Anyone is welcome to join the tour whether you are a club member or not.
Where are we going? To Wilmington, Del. to see Winterthur and Museum and then on to Kennett Square, Pa. to visit Longwood Gardens. Both places are owned by different members of the duPont family. Longwood dates back to 1702, the home of Pierre Samuel duPont. Here is an outstanding display of plants with roses the featured bloom in June. It is advisable to take about a half of a day to enjoy this lovely spot.
Winterthur is owned by Henry Francis duPont who Has furnished the rooms with American antiques. There are 100 rooms of period furniture dating from 1640 to 1840. depicting 200 years of domestic architecture, furniture, ceramics, metalwork, textiles, paintings and prints chosen with meticulous regard for their.quality and fitness of location. For full day tours, luncheon is served at the museum.
