The Board of Supervisions of Rappahannock County, Virginia, upon motion duly made, seconded and passed, does hereby give notice of said Board’s intention to propose the following ordinance for passage at its next regular meeting on June 6, 1962 at 10:00 O'Clock A- M. (DST)
PROPOSED INTERIM BUILDING ORDINANCE
RAPPAHANNOCK COUNTY, VIRGINIA
In order to promote the health, safety, order and prosperity; to conserve the natural and historic resources; and td provide for the general welfare of Rappahannock County, Virginia, it is desirable and necessary to exercise building control in areas to be used for agricultural, forestry, residential, commercial and industrial purposes; but Since the preparation of a comprehensive plan for Rappahannock County, Virginia, will require time for the assembly and evaluation of data, for the preparation of maps and plans, for ^gtudly by the Planning Commission and the Board of Super'Visors and for the required public ha rings; and since During this period of evaluation and study an emergency exists so that it is necessary to protect the interest of the people of Rappahannock County, Virginia, by interim building controls;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED THAT it shall be unlawful in Rappahannock County, Virginia, to locate, construct, reconstruct, alter or enlarge any building or structure when such location, construction, reconstruction, alteration or enlargement shall cost five hudred dollars ($500) or more without having first secured a building permit issued by the Board of Supervisors or its duly designated representative.
ARTICLE 1
Definition of Terms 1-1. __Administrator: The officer charged with the enforcement of this Ordinance. The Administrator may be any appointed1 or elected officer who has been designated to the position by the Board of Supervisors by formal resolution. 1-2. Building: Any fixed or movable structure having a roof supported by columns or walls for the housing or enclosure of persons, animals or chattels, including mobile homes. 1-3. Building, Main: A building in which is conducted the principal use of the lot on which it is located. In any residential or agrcultural district, any dwelling shall be deemed to be the main building on the lot on which the dlwellingis located. 1-4. Structure: Anything constructed or erected, the use of which requires permanent location on the ground or attachment to something having a permanent location on the ground. This term shall include advertising signs and billboards.
