A research planting of apple trees grafted on growth controlling root stocks was made last Thursday at the C. E. Johnson, Jr. farm. Two root stocks, Mailing Mur ton 104 and M XXV, brought to this country from England in 1952, were used in grafting four varieties of apples; Red Queen, Golden Delicious, a spur type Red Delicious and Winesap. The plantings are 22' x 30'.
