the first time plans have been made to check performance under commercial orchard conditions. Growth rate and characteristics will be watched by horticulturist and growers from without this area. Future plans call for research personnel to check quantity and quality of yield from the middle tree of each root stock grouping of each variety in all rows at harvest.
Rappahannock orchardist are most fortunate to have this research planting here at home. I urge all apple growers to watch the planting continuously. The site is on the Reeve land located on left side of route 667 going west from Atkins store in Sperryville.
