County Agent Total 1963 precipitation in Rappahannock has been short, in fact, todate, it is the lowest since 1947 for the first four months of the year. In' 1947, measured precipitation was 6.59", in 1963 to date it has been 6.76”. The past eighteen years average rainfall for the combined months of January, February, March and April is 10.47 . Dryness, particularly this month, has delayed preparation and affected quality of seed beds, and Inhibited pasture growth. In addition the fire hazard has become enormous. Grass, brush, and leaves are tinder dry. Winds have been persistant, frequently continuing around the clock.
