These top yields are just about at the break-even production rate. The remaining 30 % portion of the field was of a soil considered physically unsuited to present day specifications. Fortunately soils Of higher productive potential were else where on the farm. Actually in a field which has been in pasture for years...for how many years no one knows. The range of corn yields from these soils were; 60-85 bushels per acre and 70-110 bushels per acre. This man was fortunate.
