Miss Mary M. Wood will serve as chairman of this year's fund raising campaign in Rappahannock County for the Children’s Home Society Richard H. Catlett, president of the society announced today.
Mr. Catlett said “Miss Wood has conducted our campaigns before and we are very happy that she is going to serve again.v “The Society took 167 new babies into care last year but the calls for help were so great that we had to turn away a very large , number of other babies whose parents asked us to find homes for them. The situation around the State is becoming more acute and we need to raise a larger amount this year if we are going 40 keep up with the increasing need. “A baby without a - home" continued Catlett "is in a very vulnerable position. He may become a victim of neglect or malnutrition or he may suffer from the lack of love and guidance which a good family can give him. 'Please give as generously as possible to help these tiny citizens."

The Ladies Auxiliary to the Washington Volunteer Fire Department will sponsor their Semi-Annual Rummage Sale in the basement of the Post Office at Washington each Friday and Saturday during the month of September, Now is your opportunity td help with a worthy cause and at the same time clear your closets, attic, basement, v dresser drawers, etc. of * things you haven’t used for years and are just taking up space. . . ^There is always someone who can make use of your castaways. Many children will be returning to school and will need clothes. If your child has outgrown some of his or her clothes... remember there is another child who can use them. Any and everything will be accepted, for example; furniture, dishes, clothes, hats, shoes, jewelry, food, vegetables, flowers, blankets, bed linens, toys, tools, or just anything you have. Mrs. W. B.
