Tim Kilby, 16, son of Mr. and Mrs. L. J. Kilby of Sperry, ville has been accepted into Amateur Radio Emergency Corps. The AREC is a special organization of amateur radio operators for assisting In com munications during emergencies. Tim is also a member of the Amateur Radio Relay League. He received an F.C.C. license in May and operates his "ham station* from his home. A Rappahannock County High School Senior he is the only licensed "ham* operator in the county. He transmits on short wave frequency to all parts of the country. Tim’s call letters are WN4TLG.
Thomas Reid b 30 Millionth Air Passenger
Thomas B. Reid of Bartlesville, Okla. was singled out as the honorary 30 millionth traveler to fly on a Braniff International Airways plane. Mr. Reid, 35, is a Phillips Petroleum Company research engineer, and is the son of Mrs. C. G. Reid of Washington, Va. Brief ceremonies marking the event were held at Tulsa International Airport recently as passengers boarded flight 251 to New Orleans. He was given a commemorative certificate by Byron E. Gardiner, vice president of Spartan Aircraft Co. and chairman of the Tulsa Chamber of Commerce aviation committee.
A five-seat Stinson Detroiter operating over a 114-mile route between Tulsa and Oklahoma City carried the first Braniff passenger 36 years ago.
