Around The County

The county Arts and cratts committee discussed several topics at their meeting on August 11th that would be of interest to you. An arts and crafts display will be held Oct. 27th through November 3rd. If you have articles that you would like to display, please let the committee know as soon as possible so they can begin planning the space and layout for the exhibit. A county wide basket making workshop will be held on October 14th. Later on in the year the committee will offer a similar, workshop on knitting. A few weeks ago in my column I mentioned a market outlet for local crafts. I want to urge any of you who may have crafts to sell, to contact the Arts and Crafts Com mittee or the Extension Office. Members of the committee ares Mrs. T. J. Pillar, Mrs. L, J. Kilby, Mrs. Earl Kilby, Mrs. James Bowey, Mrs. Jas. M. Settle, Mrs. Emmett Thompsqp and Mrs. Wiley Gentry. One of our county 4-H members, Tommy Williams, will be attending the State 4-H Electric Congress in Richmond August 27th and 28th. Local power companies throughout the state of Virginia will sponsor the Congress.
