Attends Convention

Mr6. Betty Jane Baldwin attended the four-day Virginia State Hairdressers Convention held in Roanoke last week and weekend. Of the new hairstyles, she says, some are good, but others are not adaptable for rural trade. Mrs. Baldwin owns and operates Baldwin’s Beauty Shop near Amissville.

Ceramics Workshop Set for Oct. 14

The Arts and Crafts Project met Tuesday, September 28 at 10 a. m. at Cab-Inn in Sperryville. Plans for the Show were discussed. Tuesday, October 5 at 10 a. m. there will be a meeting at the home of Mrs. Tom Pillar for firing the last pieces of ceramics made by the menv bers of the Ceramics Workshop.

District N Teachers Hold Meeting

Teachers of Northern Virginia District N attended an annual meeting Saturday, September 25 at Osborne High School, Manassas. About 900 teachers were present, including those of Rappahannock County. Dr. T. Marshall Hahn, Jr. President of Virginia Polytechnic Institute, was speaker and his subject was “We Should Be Concerned with People Not in School”. He spoke of the high school dropouts and of young college potential not taking advantage of opportunities afforded. Other business was routine and the group adjourned.
