Officers Elected
Luray - James Racey, prirv cipal of the Strasburg Elemerv tary School, has been elected chairman of Shenrapawa District, Boy Scouts of America. Mr. Racey succeeds Dr. T. C. Hall of Shenandoah who held the post for the past year. Shenrapawa District is made up of scouts from Shenendoah, Rap pahannock, Page and Warren counties. Elected to serve with Dr. Racey were Judge Raynor Snead of Washington, William H. Ritter of Front Royal and Simon Wender of Woodstock, all vice chairmen. Hollis Wilson of Strasburg was elected commissioner of the district. Elected as members at large were Bob Leonard, Bill Clare, Park Wagner and O. A. Norton all of Front Royal, William B. Crawford, Keith Stickley and William Holler of Woodstock, J. George Moore, Donald Moyers, Raymond Davis Jr. and Gerald Gum of New Ma* ket and Zane Neff of Edinburg.
Scout executive Vernon LaBarre of Winchester told some 25 Boy Scout officials at a meeting here that the district must recruit 118 boys by Dec. 31 to qualify for a National Breakthrough Award for mem bership. Mr. LaBarre said how the dis trict has 685 boys enrolled in scouting, and must have 803 by the end of December. The district has set 844 boys as its membership goal at the end of the year. Also he said, 28 Boy Scout :roops are Cub packs must ae re-chartered along with six new units to qualify for the award.
