Two Crashes Occur
In Heavy Sun. Traffic
During Sunday's heavy traffic on Route 211 two traffic crashes occurred in Rappahannock County. Trooper J. B. Willis investigated a crash at 4 p.m. two and a half miles west of Amissville which involved a 1965 Ford owned and operated by Billy Carroll Painter of Springfield anti a 60 Chevrolet owned and operated by Richard Harold Haines of Bealeton. Both vehicles were traveling east when traffic slowed and the Haines car struck the Painter car in the rear, said Trooper Willis. Haines was charged with following to closely. Katie Cubbage Painter, 26, of Springfield sustained a whiplash.
Three vehicles were involved in a collision on Route 211 two miles west of Washington Sunday morning. According to Trooper R. M. Dodson, John Stewart Shiner of Front Royal was operating a 65 Ford heading west on Route 211. The others were Emmett Bryan Doddin of Charlottesville in a 65 Chevrolet and Joe Gregario of Springfield in a 65 Chevy II. Shiner came over a hill and saw a vehicle slowing ahead. He swerved and struck Doddin’s eastbound car, glanced off it and crashed into Cregario who was also heading east. Gregario sustained contusions of the chest, a sprained sack and abrasions. His wife Volanda Gregario had a contusion of the right knee and a neck whiplash. Shiner wa s cha rged with reckless driving.
