Attend VEA Meeting
The Virginia Education Association is holding its annual convention in Richmond this week. Delegates from Rappahannock County who left yesterday for the meeting and will return Saturday are: Dennis Wingfield, principal of Rap^ pahannock County High School;, Mrs. Jessie M. Turner, teacher at Washington Elementary and Mrs. Lucia Z. Kilby, a faculty member of Sperryville Elementary. The John Marshall Hotel is the convention’s headquarters but business sessions will be held at the Mosque, as well as the final general assembly of the convention at which speakers will be Sen. William B. Spong, Jr. and Sen. Harry F. Byrd, Jr. Official delegates will cast deciding votes on 158 recommendations from among 12 committee reports and will adopt the association’s “1968 Program of Action." Overand above delegate sessions the teachers will have to choose from more than thirty meetings set up to improve their knowledge and skills in subject matter areas ranging alphabetically from aerospace education to vocational education.
