State police and the Rappahannock County Sheriff’s Department are investigating the ambush slaying Tuesday night of Dr. William Eugene Lynn which occurred at his home near Huntly. An unknown assailant shot into the Lynn car in the driveway of his home when he stopped for a barricade in the lane. Mrs. Lynn, riding with him, sustained superficial wounds, from the blast as she got out of the car i to remove the barricade. Resigns
D. D. Miller of Washington has resigned as secretarytreasurer and appraiser of the Rappahannock Home Mutual Fire Insurance Company effective yesterday. Appointed to fill the position is James M. Ashby, an orchardist and farmer of Sperryville. Mr. Miller has held the position for the past three years. The Rappahannock Home Mutual is the oldest business in the county. It received its charter on February 27, 1878, Other officers of the company at present are: C. E. Johnson, Jr., president; Robert L. Brown, vice president; and directors are: L. R. Hudson, J. R. Latham, J. P. Cook, L. J. Kilby, D. Lyle Miller, Jr., Mr. Johnson and Mr. Brown.
