And it was spent quickly. There was little or no thought given to saving part of it. To teen-agers, money is for spending—now. The facts and figures were developed from national surveys and studies reported by the Life Insurance Institute of America, the Youth Research Institute and others. Their figures show that teenage spending in the United States climbed to a record $18 billion in the past year.
