Mr. and Mrs. Sam North of Chester Gap celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary on Sunday afternoon with picnic given by their children at the community fire hall. Mr. and Mrs. North were married on June 26, 1920 in Front Royal by a Methodist minister, the Rev. J. Harry Smith. They had eight children of whom five are living, and include Samuel Randolph North of the Remount Station, Stewart North, Front Royal, Mrs. Pearl Mills, Huntly, Mrs. Georgia Melbum, Purcellville and Mrs. Minnie Williams Goranson, Chester Gap. Mr. and Mrs. North each received a wrist watch as a gift from their family.
