Washington Firemen and Rappahannock Rescue squadsmen opened their carnival last night and it will continue through Saturday. A large number of rides are featured on the midway and games, fund, food and prizes abound.
The big layout includes games of many varieties for many skills and offers prizes galore. The aroma of tasty hamburgers, hot dogs, sweets and drinks greets carnival goers at the food stand.
A contest for queen of the carnival is underway and some young lady will be crowned

Washington Masonic Lodge No. 78 will hold a Ladies’ Night Banquet at the Hampton Inn on Route 211 at 8 p.m., Saturday, June 27, celebrating the Festival of St. John the Baptist.
Right Worshipful Perry D. Mowbray of Richmond, Virginia will be the speaker of the evening.
