Involved in Crashes
Donnie Wayne Welch of Flint Hill struck and killed a deer on Route 211 a mile east of Sperryville Saturday. He was operating a 67 Mustang and was not injured, according to Trooper J.B. Willis who investigated.
A second crash involving a deer occurred Monday night when Melvin B. Kell, Jr. of Wentzville, Mo. struck a deer on Route 211 west of Sperryville. Kell, a serviceman, was enroute to a new assignment at Quantico Marine Corps Base. Damage to his car, a 1968 Plymouth was relatively minor.
A single-vehicle crash occurred Sunday on Route 231 south of Sperryville and involved Charles Edward Jenkins of Sperryville. He whs operating a 1956 Chevrolet and ran off the road, struck a culvert and bank. He sustained a bruised leg and James O. Jenkins, also of Sperryville, a passenger, had a bruised leg.
Charles Edward Jenkins was charged with reckless driving by Trooper J.B. Willis.
Attend Jaycee Convention
Four delegates from the Rappahannock Jaycee Chapter are attending the National Jaycee Convention held this week in St. Louis, Mo. Netus Brown, Wilson Burke of Sperryville and Buster Hitt and Garfield Burke of Woodville left Friday for the convention which will include national elections and will return this Friday.
