MORE SKIRMISHING in the continuing battle of Vepco vs. the landowners took place last week. In court, it appeared that the landowners were winning; in the field, the landowners were afraid that Vepco was doing what it wanted to, anyway.
First, battle reports from the Fauquier Front:
Mrs. Dolph Traver appeared at last Thursday’s meeting of the Board of Supervisors to urge the county “to adopt the most aggressive and positive attitude’’ possible in its suit objecting to Vepco powerline corridor plans.
Marshall Wallach backed Mrs. Traver up, stating that the Mid-Fauquier Association firmly “supports this effort.” Later, die Association hired Hugo Blankingship to enter the case on the side of the county.
A letter was received from William E. Embrey of Remington urging' the county to donate $1,000 toward the cost of a technical study to support objectors to the Vepco plans.
