CREATIVE PROJECTS IN LEISURE TIME — Opportunities for creative projects during leisure time are almost as numerous as there are people. So there’s something for everyone regardless of age, health, finances and aspiration^. One could have difficulty in determining the most rewarding activ► ities. The following questions could be helpful in making a wise decision: Is there genuine pleasure in doing this project? Does it relax me and put problems in the background?
Does it stimulate achievement without excessive work? Is there a feeling of accomplishment and general satisfaction as the project is completed? Has there been an increase in knowledge and skills, or has it been just a “time-killing” activity? Am lispending more than I can afford? Is there potential for the project to serve as an additional source of income?
OLDER MEN, AS WELL AS WOMEN, need ideas for creative projects, too. Some men have interests in growing unusual plants, flowers, or shrubs. Other men like painting collecting and mounting items, woodworking, building items, such as games, bird houses and feeders, refinishing furniture, helping ‘better-half’ make quilts and preparation of gourmet foods.
Creative projects should provide pleasure, relaxation, stimulate achievement, increase knowledge and skills, and they can be a source of additional income. □ Rappahannock News • Thursday, May 18, 1972
