Of those who don’t continue to work after they begin receiving social security benefits, many are retired workers from businesses and industries with pension plans.

“About 14 percent of those who have worked in manufacturing keep working,” she added. “About 24 percent keep working in transportation, communication, real estate, and insurance; 25 percent in public administration, and 30 percent in mining.”
