Returning disabled Vietnam War veterans, 30 or younger, may now qualify for disability payments under the Social Security law, without meeting the fiveyear or 40 quarter work requirement previously in existence.
The law, liberalized in 1967, now allows a person to meet the requirement if he has worked only onehalf the time between the ages of 21 and 31. When it is shown that the veteran’s disability began prior to his 24th birthday, then only 18 months of Social Security coverage is required.
