maid. All wore gowns identical to that of the honor attendant and carried nosegays of pom pons and holly. Sandra Burke, cousin of the bride, was flower girl. She wore a short red velvet dress and matching bow in her hair.
Paul Coates of Madison served as best man for his brother-in-law and ushers were Jonas Wayne Alther, brother of the bride; Gary Deal and Robert Deal, both of Culpeper, brothers of the bridegroom. Rodney Coates, the bridegroom’s nephew was the ringbearer.
A reception followed in the social hall of the church where the guest book was tended by Mrs. Gary Deal of Culpeper. The wedding cake was cut and served by Mrs. Franklin Hawkins of Arlington while Mrs. Robert Deal of Cul-v peper and Mrs. Roger Haw- * kins of Arlington poured the punch. Coffee was served by Mrs. Douglas Fairfax of Washington and floral arrangements were done by Mrs. T. M. Johnston, also of Washington.
For her daughter’s wedding Mrs. Alther chose a long gown of blue velvet and satin with navy blue accessories and an orchid corsage. The bridegroom’s mother wore a floor length dress of green velvet and ivory chiffon. She had an orchid corsage and beige accessories.
For traveling the bride wore a two piece ensemble of navy and white and had matching accessories and an orchid corsage. Af- ter their trip Mr. and Mrs. Deal will make their home in Chantilly. □
