Troopers stand
riot duty
OVER 200 riot-equipped state troopers were called tm the Virginia State Penitentiary Tuesday to stand guard while a master lock was repaired on a cell block where some 400 inmates have roamed at will for almost a week.
Troopers W. A. Buntin and R. A. Baines of Rappahannock and G. F. Gregory of Luray were among them. They were alerted about 1 a.m. to report in Richmond by 4 a.m.
The officers were there
to maintain discipline while the lock, broken by a disturbance last Tuesday, was repaired. □
