Schools to open
PUBLIC SCHOOLS in Rappahannock County will open for the 1973-74 session on Monday, August 27. Classes will be dismissed at 2 p.m. on opening day with full day schedule on August 28. Friday, August 31 will be a work day for teachers and non school day for pupils. Monday, September 3 will be observed as a holiday.
Families new to the county who have not registered their children in school should go to the school serving their residence area and grade level prior to the opening of school. School buses will operate on some routes five to ten minutes earlier than during the last session. An increase of five cents in the price of school lunches in Rappahannock County was approved at the August meeting of the Rappahannock County School Board. This action was prompted by “the increase in food costs and the reduction of available food com modifies under the school lunch program.” The Board was advised that re-imbursement assistance for milk sold to pupils has been discontinued and the charge to pupils will be higher by about four cents than in pre nous years.□
