According to the official weather station in Amiss - ville where precipitation records are kept by Miss Lucille Riley the situation is soggy. Over three inches of rain was measured one day last week and Tuesday the measure was more than 1 1/2 inches. An estimate by Miss Riley sets the August total at over 6 inches.
From the station in Washington with Miss Ruby Jenkins in charge the following figures were made available Wednesday morning: 6.91 inches of rain has been recorded for the month of August making the total for the year to date 30.26. The highest year’s total since records were established in 1945 was in 1972 when 51 inches was the total.
In August of 1968 rainfall for that month was 9.80, the highest record with 1949 having 7.85, second.
