Notice was earlier given to the public that Virginia Electric and Power Company and Potomac Edison Company of Virginia had applied to the State Corporation Commission for authority to construct certain electric transmission lines and related facilities. The transmission lines and facilities proposed are: (1) a 115 KV transmission line located in Fauquier County originating at a proposed substation at Remington, Virginia; (2) a 500 KV transmission line located in Fauquier County originating at a proposed substation at Morrisville, Virginia, and extending northeastwardly to Bristers Junction, Virginia; (3) a 230 KV line located in Fauquier County originating at the proposed substation at Morrisvill*, Virginia, and extending northwestwardly to the proposed substation at Remington, Virginia; (4) a 500 KV line originating at Virginia Electric and Power Company’s generating facilities on the North Anna River in Louisa County and extending northwardly through the counties of Spotsylvania, Orange, Culpeper, to the proposed substation at Morrisville in Fauquier County; (5) a 500 KV line originating at the proposed substation at Morrisville in Fauquier County and extending northwestwardly through the counties of Culpeper, Rappahannock, Warren, and Frederick to the Virginia-West Virginia state line.
Public hearings upon the applications have been held in Fauquier County and Rappahannock County and in the Commission's Courtroom in Richmond, Virginia. The hearing has been continued to October 4, 1973, to allow additional time for the Commission’s Staff to further investigate the proposed routes and to investigate for alternate locations which might have a lesser adverse impact upon the environment and to determine the feasibility of using existing right of ways for the location of transmission lines found to be needed.
