ESTABLISHMENT of service centers will “carry out the mandate of Congress spelled out in the Rural Development Act of 1972,” which calls for location of all units of the Department concerned with rural development in single field offices.
The Service Center Program will also carry forward a USD A effort begun 11 years ago which achieved some co-location in 54 per cent of counties with USDA offices.
The Department is already re-orienting its administrative capability in Washington to provide farms and rancers a more effective field delivery system.
