The Rappahannock - Rapidan Community Mental Health and Mental Retardation Services Chapter 10 Board was recently awarded a grant of $11,840 from the Virginia Department of MH & MR to finance the hiring of a psychologist. The Chapter 10 Board is contracting with the Orange County School Board whereby the psychologist will be used in the Orange public schools two to four days per week for the duration of the current academic year.

The position will be filled soon by Miss Janet Looper, formerly of Washington, D.C. Miss Looper will conduct “psychological evaluations” on selected students and will consult with the teachers on individual cases. When not in the schools, Miss Looper will provide services in some of the other programs operated or funded by the Chapter 10 Board, such as the Orange Mental Health Clinic, F. O.R^E., Inc. and the Goldsborough House.

Miss Looper earned a B. A. degree at Syracuse University and obtained her M.A. in psychology from Temple University. She recently served an internship at Haverford State Hospital, Haverford, Pa.D
