The Rappahannock Manufacturing Company of Flint Hill expanded its plant by 10,000 square feet and 90 new employees. By November the employee roster is expected to stand at 300 to 350. The plant makes ladies and children’s garments. The plant produces 1,500 garments in a 9-hour day.
The Board of Supervisors of Rappahannock County retained Tri-County Refuse Service to provide portable dumps at nine locations in the county and pick them up weekly and return empty ones.
Mlu Diane Brown, Extension Agent, Home Economics, tended her resignation to the Board from that position effective September 1. She has accepted a position in Cambridge, Md., as 4-H Extension Agent.
Resident Engineer James Skeens presented the annual secondary road budget to the Board and it was approved. The total budget was $271,832 for maintenance of 219.86 miles of secondary roads in Rappahannock.
